A growing series of oil paintings on the metaphysics of gold

The term dunamis from Aristotle’s philosophy, speaks of latent power, potentiality, and the capacity to become. The project explores gold’s dual role as matter and metaphor, reflecting on its symbolic weight and its economic force. For millennia, gold has been prized for its permanence, its ability to preserve wealth, and its enduring cultural significance. Alchemically speaking, I find it rather amusing to turn paint into gold—but that’s merely the surface level of what the project is about. In keeping with its “DNA,” the collection’s identity and philosophical undertones will emerge more clearly as the work evolves and matures.
